Blackletter is a historic printer’s term for the styles also known as Old English or gothic. The monograph “Blackletter: Type and National Identity” accompanied the exhibition and can be purchased directly. A separate catalog for the exhibition is available from RIT Press.

Peter Bain has taught at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Mississippi State University, Parsons School of Design/The New School, Pratt Institute, and the Wells Book Arts Summer Institute. His letterform presentations and workshops have included Louisiana State University, School of Art (2018), AIGA Birmingham (2016), ATypI 2013 (Amsterdam), Typecon 2010 (Los Angeles), ATypI 2006 (Lisbon), and Typecon 2005 (New York).
